Meet Ellie, 21 years old, a college student—and a virgin, but not by choice. The heroine of the most comedic novel in years, Ellie is on a mission to get rid of her V card no matter what it takes. Whether she succeeds (or not), one thing is certain—you'll be talking about Ellie, and laughing about things you thought you could only share with your best friends.
Okay, I admit it…I didn’t do it. Yet. This is normal, right? I mean, just because everyone I know has talked like they’ve already done it doesn’t mean that they’re telling the truth…right?
It’s not like I’m asking for that much. I don’t need the perfect guy. I don’t need candlelight or roses. Honestly, I don’t even need a real bed.
The guys I know complain that girls are always looking for Mr. Right—do I have to wear a sign that says I’m only looking for Mr. Right Now?
Sooooo…anyone out there want sex? Anyone? Hello? Just for fun? I am not going to die a virgin. One way or another I am going to make this happen.
Hey, what have I got to lose? Besides the obvious.
My Review
Radhika Sanghani’s debut novel, VIRGIN rocks, and absolutely the most hilarious chick-lit, for teens and women of all ages—guaranteed to keep you laughing for hours on end! An honest, razor sharp look at sex from a virgin’s point of view, as readers will get an ear full with lovable characters, Ellie(wants desperately to lose her V-card), and Emma (lost it already)—from the blogs, the pains of growing up, trying to fit in, appearances, peer pressure, relationships, obsessions, guys, risk, sex, friendship, and all the things which go along with growing up and dating. Fans of Sex in the City (Sarah Jessica Parker/Carrie Bradshaw), Kim Cattrall/Samantha Jones), Bridget Jones, Jojo Moyes, and Jennifer Weiner will devour. A must read for all teens, and of course, all the women who married young, going from someone’s daughter to someone’s wife, in their twenties, to finding themselves divorced in their late thirties, or early forties, back in the game dating younger guys-- this one is for you as well. It is high maintenance keeping up! However, there is more to the book than just sex, as friendship is front and center as well as self-discovery. (loved the gay guy friend and their bond). From oral sex, Brazilian and Hollywood waxes, BJs, to proper presentation of the vagina – the author knows how to write, for a contemporary entertaining read, a winner out of the gate!Madonna would be proud, and found myself singing “Like a Virgin” after reading, thinking of her mention in the book. Highly recommend the audiobook, as Faye Adele (beautiful accent), provided a stellar performance, hitting every sassy kick-ass line to perfection. Congrats, and look forward to reading more from this insightful author!
