COVER REVEAL

Summer begins with MKA, in this delightful summer read about flipping houses, and finding true love.

Hattie Kavanaugh went to work helping clean up restored homes for Kavanaugh & Son Restorations at eighteen; married the boss’s son at twenty; and was only twenty-five when her husband, Hank, was killed in a motorcycle accident.

Broken hearted, but determined to continue the business of their dreams, she takes the life insurance money, buys a small house in a gentrifying neighborhood, flips it, then puts the money into her next project. But that house is a disaster and a money-loser, which rocks her confidence for years to come. Then, Hattie gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: star in a beach house renovation reality show called "The Homewreckers," cast against a male lead who may be a love interest, or may be the ultimate antagonist. It's a question of who will flip, and who will flop, and will Hattie ever get her happily-ever-after.

Filled with Mary Kay Andrews's trademark wit, warmth, junking trips, and house porn, The Homewreckers is a summer beach delight.

"Andrews' latest, after The Newcomer (2021), is a frothy combination of a hectic old-house-renovation story and a cozy mystery with a hint of romance centered around a likable heroine who has been holding too many feelings at bay. A perfect summer escape." —Booklist

My Review

May's "Best Beach" Read!

Congrats to MKA for 30 years of fabulous books and hours of entertainment. The Homewreckers is making all the lists from @nytimes @publisherswkly @usatoday @wsj list @siba_books list, and many more. A HIT!

Summer would NOT be complete without a Mary Kay Andrews sizzling story for the perfect escape.

THE HOMEWRECKERS provides an intriguing, compelling cold-case murder, delicious beachside renovations, a design TV show, a tantalizing romance, vacation rentals, and MKA's signature wit, sass, style, and southern charm. Set in coastal Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia.

No one does it better!

Hattie Kavanaugh, the protagonist— lost her husband seven years earlier after a motorcycle accident. She works with her father-in-law, Tug, her best friend, Cassidy, and Cass's mother, Zenobia. They are in the business of flipping houses in Savannah, GA.

However, after losing all her savings in her latest renovation, she accepts an offer to star in a TV show. However, they will be underfoot and she has to be onscreen and work with Mo Lopez, the producer, and good-looking designer.

During the renovation, things from the past keep popping up and all sorts of problems. A local schoolteacher went missing years ago, and the body was never round. Deadly secrets from the previous owners add even more intrigue and suspense.

Fans are going to LOVE this one!

I also recommend Ten Beach Road Novel Wendy Wax Beach Read Series (Florida) and Karen White's The Shop on Royal Street (New Orleans), which are both fun reads that I enjoyed. Renovations, old houses, TV, mystery murder from the past with added ghosts.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a digital and print ARC to read, enjoy, and review.

MARY KAY ANDREWS is the New York Times bestselling author of 27 novels (including Hello, Summer; Sunset Beach; The High Tide Club; The Weekenders; Beach Town; Save the Date; Ladies’ Night; Christmas Bliss; Spring Fever; Summer Rental; The Fixer Upper; Deep Dish; Blue Christmas; Savannah Breeze; Hissy Fit; Little Bitty Lies; and Savannah Blues), and one cookbook, The Beach House Cookbook.

A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, she earned a B.A. in journalism from The University of Georgia. After a 14-year career working as a reporter at newspapers including The Savannah Morning News, The Marietta Journal, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, where she spent the final ten years of her career, she left journalism in 1991 to write fiction.

Her first novel, Every Crooked Nanny, was published in 1992 by HarperCollins. She went on to write ten critically acclaimed mysteries under her real name, Kathy Hogan Trocheck. In 2002, she assumed the pen name Mary Kay Andrews with the publication of Savannah Blues. In 2006, Hissy Fit became her first New York Times bestseller, followed by twelve more New York Times, USA Today and Publisher’s Weekly bestsellers. To date, her novels have been published in German, Italian, Polish, Slovenian, Hungarian, Dutch, Czech and Japanese.

She and her family divide their time between Atlanta and Tybee Island, GA, where they cook up new recipes in two restored beach homes, The Breeze Inn and Ebbtide—both named after fictional places in Mary Kay’s novels, and both available to rent through Tybee Vacation Rentals. In between cooking, spoiling her grandkids, and plotting her next novel, Mary Kay is an intrepid treasure hunter whose favorite pastime is junking and fixing up old houses. WEBSITE
